The Government reported former Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner for alleged "fraud" after receiving a bonus by declaring that she lived in an austral zone while actually living in the City of Buenos Aires. According to the Ministry of Human Capital, the total gross amount that Kirchner received from various allowances amounted to $35,255,297.73, equivalent to almost 136 minimum pensions.
The criminal complaint filed by ANSES accuses Kirchner of committing alleged crimes such as "fraud, embezzlement from the Public Administration, and ideological falsehood" by declaring a false address in an austral zone to obtain undue benefits. The complainants specified that the austral bonus can only be received by those who have effective residence in certain provinces, to which Kirchner did not belong.
For his part, the head of ANSES, Mariano De Los Héros, indicated that the former official presented a false certificate of residence in Río Gallegos to receive an austral supplement while living in Buenos Aires. The Government determined that allowances become incompatible for those who have committed crimes in the exercise of public office, establishing measures in this regard.
In the complaint, Kirchner is accused of having used sworn statements with false data to obtain additional benefits from the austral zone, which would constitute ideological falsehood. ANSES considers Kirchner's actions to be "an act of corruption" and requests the judge for various measures to investigate the situation, such as verifying her attendance at the Senate and collecting information about her banking and telephone movements during certain periods. A handwriting and accounting examination is also requested to determine the economic harm caused to the public administration.
